A word from our trustees
In my first month as an appointed trustee, I wanted to use this opportunity to celebrate how amazing our wonderful volunteers are. August could have been a little challenging for us as our venue at St John's Hall wasn closed for 2 weeks for renovation work. Our volunteers were determined not to leave our guests hungry and managed to pull off (very successfully, may I add) serving a full delicious meal, with a pudding, to 160 guests outside, chefs cooked food at home and volunteers set up tables in the car park. This shows how far our volunteers are willing to go to make sure our lovely guests don’t go without.

We really owe everything to the wonderful people who dedicate their time to helping our community. Making connections and supporting our guests is at the forefront of what we do here, and we couldn’t do it without them. And I am so excited about becoming a Trustee for this wonderful team.

Volunteer Spotlight
We have such a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers and one of those to recently have recieved their “10-meals-volunteered” Community Kitchen T-shirt is our wonderful Irene! Despite being a real calming presence on a Monday, Irene is not one to sit still and is always ready to roll up her sleeves and help out with any task that needs doing. A wonderful support to new volunteers and always keen to help us with ideas to keep improving, Irene helps make Community Kitchen what it is. Thank you for being part of the team Irene!  
 
This month our guests loved
Quorn “Chicken” Burgers!
To celebrate the warm weather we’ve had in August, chef Debbie treated the guests to an indoor BBQ this month serving burgers, wedges and salad. As expected, they went down a storm with our guests.
